Part I : Identifying Homophobia

Homophobia in Action at School

Homophobia in school can manifest any of the five degrees of prejudiced action described by Gordon Allport. The agents of homophobia may be institutional policies or they may be members of the faculty, staff, or student body. The targets of homophobia in school may be students or adult members of the faculty and staff.

Here are some case studies of encounters with homophobia at school as reported by San Francisco Bay Area middle and high school teachers.
